Had my first over the phone casual call and landed my first proof session! Felt super natural and was cool to hear someone who was not thrilled with their most recent project be excited about the next one.

Just had my first "Casual Call" and it was eye opening! I've done dozens of calls in the past 2,5 years but never realized how much pressure I put on both the call and myself by framing at as "I have to close this one now", making it a sales call halfway through without them maybe wanting it. I wanted to share this little win i had lately, i think it could inspire some of you who are also artists. I played a small record store gig a couple weeks ago where i was creating improvised beats with a friend and we had a small but high quality freestyle rap cypher going on in three different languages. Momentum is really starting to pick up now that I’ve dedicated my time to focusing more on outreach! I also created my own custom CRM with Claude code that is helping me a lot with staying on top of my business (highly recommend it!). Just wanted to share that I finally got my first deposit for 2 songs from an artist I connected with on IG from outreach. Its discounted since she has someone she already trusts for mixing, I'll just be handling production. Also looks like we will have a long standing working relationship since she likes my sound and has other demos she wants to build on with me. All the coaching I received along the way was super helpful! The framework definitely works just got to stick with it through all the no's.

It was my first production session over Zoom ever. And everything worked. We were bouncing ideas back and forth. I added tracks, played instruments etc. I feared my MacBook would get up in flames but no, did a solid job :) The energy was great and productive. 3h of solid work done. Closed a deal with a past client of mine for a mixing and mastering gig at my updated rates for a 5 song EP! Stoked that he stuck with me through the increase since it was about double from the last EP that we worked on together.

Excited to share that I released my debut EP a few week ago. Half of the tracks on the project were brithed during my groundwork and portfolio builder sessions last year. I don’t think I would’ve had the courage to host a listening party and put as much weight into the release as I did if I hadn’t received the training I did from Aaron and the Dark Label team. The first production client I landed through outreach is releasing our first song this month, and we just started working on a second song together! And I also landed a second production client for one song. All of this at my full rate (which is 6x higher to what I was charging before Dark Label) 🥹 Slowly but surely, we build!

Hey gang! I saw some clips from a local punk show my buddy put on and asked him to connect me with one of the bands that piqued my interest. Hi, just wanted to share that I got my first sale that's 100% from outreach! It's a mix for a 4 song EP and I've charged more than I've ever done before and the client even thanked me for taking on the work. I contribute that to the whole framework of finding solutions for clients and not just "selling your services". An artist I've worked with on a few singles in the past just submitted her first payment for an album project! I've only produced singles for anyone thus far, so I'm really excited to 1) have a lot more work than normal and 2) work on a collective body of work that will be presented together. If you have any tips or experience on how your work with EP/albums has been different than singles, and how you keep a larger project like that sounding cohesive but also not same-y, I'd love to hear it.

After doing a good amount of outreach in starting to go through the business side of things, I’m thankful to say that the hard work paid off and got me to land my first client who’s going for an EP 🔥 I’m also truly thankful for @Daniel Grimmett and @James Littier who walked me through my first stages in getting things off the ground as well.
