    4 Wins Back to Back

A goal that I've had is to increase the amount of projects that I close per month. So far it's been 1 a month since November. Dan and I went over my numbers and decided that I would need to increase outreach to get more closes. That has, in turn, resulted in me closing 4 projects back to back. Two this week. This is the most that I've done. I know that the long term play is content for sure, but outreach will always be my default even if I ever get a big YT channel. It seems to be the one control... 8k project

Sup guys! Just chiming in to say that I've closed a project with an artist who decided to do a song with me - it went so well that they've decided to do 4 more songs together. After a bunch of back and forth, I just got the deposit. This is the biggest project I've actually closed to date, which is really exciting and motivating! Definitely feels like a shift toward stability after so many one off sessions and songs. Trying to rope in a few more package deals over here. Anyways keep at it guys! If you stay consistent you'll succeed.

    Two wins recently

Yesterday I brought on my second momentum model client since joining Dark Label at 600-700/month sliding scale, and today I had a great first session with a client who is paying me 1200 per song. Having a process has seriously changed the game for me. Still working on improving systems and skills ofc. To be honest things were looking bleak when my process wasn’t dialed in, it’s been mad inspiring to see things actually working. Appreciate yall for helping me put the pieces together 🤙🏼🤙🏼 Stoked to see how this process develops over time

    2 wins !

Hey everyone ! Today I’m happy to share 2 wins with you : signed my first multiple songs client (we’re doing a 5 song EP) from outreach. I didn’t close at my usual rate but managed to negociate more on the master & publishing side. This is something I’ll have to work on to maybe not get into the SSF Framework too early (did that before getting on the proof session) to have more value attached to the price but I’ll take it as a win still. Some recent wins!

Thought I would share some wins from the last few months as I’ve been a bit quiet. I’ve been working with my production team (my roommates) to get clients and produce together as a trio. It’s been working surprisingly well so far, but still lots to improve on. Here are our wins so far: We’ve just signed a 12-month contract with an artist to produce 6 tracks + marketing direction and distribution @$2300AUD/month. We’ve got two other clients making 4 songs each with us at $1200/track. + a few other ... See more

    YouTube Mastermind works!!!

I've really enjoyed learning from others experiences on the youtube mastermind calls and I'm so happy to say that it's really starting to make a difference for my channel. Being around other like minded youtube creators has helped me change my mindset to one of consistency and improvement with each post and getting to learn from others wins (and mistakes, including mine 😅), I've finally had a video go 1 of 10 for the first time since October of last year! I've also noticed others doing really well on their channels too and I hope we all keep the momentum going! Super excited for the next call

Closed 2 New Full-Rate Songs in One Day

Just closed two full rate songs in one day, both the day after 3 hr trial sessions. Something I've seen really work well for artists who value great production but need help with cashflow on their end is offering to go on a monthly plan with one song. I would recommend you get them on an mandatory autopay system (I use Honeybook invoicing for that) and have in your payment terms that work will discontinue if they don't finish payment, miss a payment, pause payments, etc. If I feel resistance on ... Look at the fact that Klarna and Afterpay are available for almost every product and service now-a-days. Not saying that's good or bad... I'm just saying that even the biggest companies in the world are getting creative when it comes to billing.

First Song booked with the DL Method

I got a call with a new client yesterday. She heard from me through a recommendation of an artist I work with a lot and asked me if I’d produce her new single. I applied the SSF during our call (and messed up a lot of different parts of it but it was my first haha) and managed to close the sale with my new established rates ! I’m really stoked I was able to change the mindset around money and selling over the past few weeks, I have some other calls lined up and hope to learn from those mistakes ... See more

Hey guys I wanted to share a win I just got today. Had an artist reach out to me via TikTok off the back of my content I do on there. Most of my clients come through either TikTok/Instagram etc. Anyway, they sent me a DM as they wanted to know more and from the start they said their budget was only around $200 - $300 for full production. I explained that was way below what my current rate is. But I asked for a demo of the song anyway on email and I was blown away by their vocal and song. So I rea... See more

    Sharing some wins! 💵

I’d like to share a few wins with you today. Since I started with Dark Label a few months ago, we’ve already achieved two very important goals for me! Generating 5k per month and having at least 4 or 5 students purchasing my highest-priced 1:1 class packages. All this time, I’ve been implementing exactly what Daniel advised, without any fear of raising my prices. Today, I have three artists I’m working with more exclusively, and I was able to break the barrier of charging 450 euros per track to now... See more

    Content/Inbound Win

Just got off an SSF follow up call where I closed a project with an inbound lead generated from content! It's the first time I've closed a project through inbound so I'm excited about it. Outreach is still my main focus at the moment because I have more control over it but I'd eventually like to have a bit of a balance between outbound and inbound lead generation. You never know

Wanted to share a funny win that happened because of doing outreach. Funny because it started quite badly: found an artist that made music I liked, we scheduled a first casual call which he missed, followed by a second one which I thought went bad because he looked bored with the conversation. I still sent him some tracks as references afterwards though (client work seemed to be out of his reach for financial reasons at the moment so he was looking for free collaborators). A couple of days go by...... See more

Tried to apply the SSF method for the first time... obviously it takes practice! Was a great opportunity to get my feet wet I guess. Still accepted my offer though, even if it felt difficult on my side! I guess the fact that she already wanted to work with me stirred the c... See more

Feb '25Absolutely a win! I’m having the same experience talking to existing clients, I feel much more self confident and less awkward now when selling to them. Following the sales framework doesn’t only justify my price towards the client, but it also gives me reassurance. There’s a voice in my head now saying “yeah that’s definitely the price I’m gonna be charging from now on, because look at all the problems I’m solving for you”.

Feb '25Great work man! Totally normal for it to feel clunky at first. Had one person tell me it felt like an interview on one of my early sales calls hahah! You get more natural for sure

Choppy at first, but ended up a win!

Hey everyone, wanted to share a recent win. Applying what I've learned from DL helped me save this opportunity tremendously. Last month I got an inbound lead- a gigging violinist, 20-something college student that wanted to record covers to use for their social media promo. We scheduled a call and I used the SSF, but made a couple mistakes during our call: Misquoted. Went really far over my base price in my proposal because I thought I had to cover my transportation time. Proposed a much higher rat... See more

First TWO sales with the Dark Label System

It happened! I did it! Locked in my first two sales this week - and collected payments too :) The first artist is hiring me to do a six-track EP. Initially, I hoped she’d hire me for the entire process -writing, production, and mixing - but after discussing it, we agreed that I’ll only be producing instrumentals. That means I’m not invoicing quite as much as I had hoped, but based on our proof session, I’m confident it’ll land at a pretty crazy 3x or 4x my minimum hourly rate. Happy days! For the ... I got my first cold outreach client!

It happened! I finally got my first official cold outreach client. An artist from New York who I reached out to some time in November 2024. She responded to my initial message weeks later out of the blue and after two calls we locked in 3 songs of a possible 4-5 song EP she wants to build up to. Payment collected and project started. I was so shocked about locking in that project on the second call after just chatting for 30mins in the prior call I almost started to stumble. Trust the process I ... See more

Feb '25@Simon Auer For sure! I feel like that was way easier even. I feel like a lot of the people I worked with in the past are so fed up from that whole session game as well and a lot of them were very happy about someone guiding them a little bit. I mean a good chunk still declined, but the trust was already there so it was just a bunch of SSF conversations!

    14. Simon Auer

Feb '25@Leif Bent True! Endless sessions with a bunch of different people just to get one good song - must be annoying from the artist perspective too!

First song pitched to a major label artist!

Hi friends, I hope this note finds you all doing great and having a great week. tbh this last few weeks have been pretty sucky for me, but I am proud and grateful for one big win... For the first time, I had a song I wrote and produced pitched to a major label for a lead; the A&R person on the publishing side said they were really happy and felt confident doing the pitch with my song, which made me feel really good. Even if this doesn't move forward in any way this was kind of a big moment for me, ... See more

Inbound offers and full asking price

Hey! This is a weird one cause it feels like a win, even though I'm not getting work. Have had a couple of inbound leads come through and have quoted my full price or discounted (but still above my minimum for economics) and have had people turn me down!! Which is great because before DL I'd drop prices to get every bit of work I could and then regret the project because I'd severely under quoted. It reminds me of the quote "if no one says no to your offer you're charging too little". Also happy new years!
