    New sale using the Dark Label framework

    Thought I'd share this win with you all! This past week I've closed a new one song project with a previous client at a total of $2050, using some of the tactics that I've picked up from Dark Label so far. The other song we did together earlier was at a total of $1300, but this time I focused on creating additional value throughout the process and making sure that came through clearly in the proposal, and by explaining that my rates therefore will be different from the first song we did.

    Yesterday evening I had my first in-person SSF meeting and it went super well. The artist is highly motivated to work with me and wants to do 4-6 Songs this year and even an Album further down the road.     This win came from a client that I've worked with before in the past. It's a 10 song spoken word project that the artist wants to submit to the Grammys next year.     First 2 Clients signed from DL method

    First few projects underway from DL cold outreach method! 2 new artists, 3 new songs. Both artists are local, solid musically and should be great additions to the portfolio. I think it took me a minute to believe in myself throughout this process, but the reps, timing and mindset aligned for the start of a good month.     Hey guys I had a little win the other day: A local music teacher and professional bassplayer started taking one-on-one production classes with me. He plays in a band for a female dancehall singer and wants to pitch some beats for her new album. He also wants to learn so he can do some production workshops with the kids at his school. And the best part is that the school he works for is paying for the classes :)

One big thing I’ve learned from DL and @James Littier’s outreach replays is to avoid talking about your rates etc. If they ask just tell them “it depends” and give em a big range. Try to get them on a separate sales call to discuss that stuff. Ask about their process and past experiences working with producers so you can discreetly gauge if they’re even someone you can work with on a personal and professional level. Also, just keep it casual and treat it as a chance to connect with an artist you like. Watch those replays, there’s gold in there!

I have probably had a dozen people I felt this way about... only 2 or 3 are still making music now. The rest fell off for one reason or another. And like i said, this one with the "win" was very hard to work with so its kind of on thin ice too.To answer you demo pricing question - in this case, I have worked with them so much in the past, I really knew a good estimated time it would take to do each demo so I just based the project price off of that average estimate.

    Hey all, I just closed on a very unique project for me. I will be doing some drum programming for a touring Hiphop orchestra. The lead emcee actually had Apple do a documentary on him while as he was building this orchestra while working at Apple.
