      Oct '24@Philip Davidson I've listened to a little of the audio book. It was good but definitely triggering since I like doing a lot of different things and I'm stubborn lol. But I totally agree, focusing all of your energy on your main priority or biggest lever in your business is necessary for progress. It takes phases of deep intense focus on a thing to make it happen. I feel like I'm on the right path and seeing people like you succeed in this group definitely helps.

I remember I did a similar thing month 3 with Dark Label, just organised as many calls as possible all with outreach, I think it was at that point that I started to understand what I was supposed to be doing on calls. They all started to sound the same, clients with the same problems, so now the youtube is just an extension of that, so happy it seems to be working!

    Hey everyone, I just closed on a project from a former client. Originally this was just mixing but then it became a full production project. Lesson learned: because she had a great experience with me before she was more than willing to jump on a call to get straight to talking about logistics on her next single. Also, every once in awhile it’s good to touch base with a client you worked with before as she had stated she was thinking about working with me again but didn’t think to reach out….. I wonder how many of our former clients are doing the same thing…

    i'm a future dark dad!

    yup i got her pregnant on the real: been married almost 3 years, and our first child (a son) is due December 16. planning to have the business scaled up enough that i can go part-time at my current job + spend more time at home with my son. i'm sure this will drastically change my schedule/operating procedures; completely worth it :) looking forward to joining the Dark Dads!

    Landed a 3-song EP!

I've had a couple of them reach out including Spitfire and recently Bandlab. Seems like brands are always on the lookout for small to medium accounts.I'd suggest making more reels featuring NI stuff if you want to pursue that relationship. Let them see you providing value to them without expectation, and they'll put 2 and 2 together.

    Youtube is working!

    I've been working away at trying to gather leads through a new youtube channel and it's starting to pay off (I've never really done much content before). The consistency and effort are seeming to be translating into views and subs which is awesome to see. It took 4 weeks for youtube to find the audience for one of my videos but check out the data in the last 48 hours, it's crazy!

Artist are finally responding to DMs, and I just landed two new clients this weekend from sales calls last week.

I worked in front of large-format consoles nearly everyday for 15 years. I moved states and no longer have access to those studios. I don't have a single picture of myself in front of all these Neves, API's, SSL's... lol. But I do have some instructional videos where I look Covid-rough 🤷

    Out of the funk

    Summer been not so winning in terms of outreach and we’ve discussed it in the forum and in yesterdays outreach meeting. That was inspiring to discuss with @Joes Brands and @James Littier , who have been through many more slow summers than most of us, how to stay calm and keep the consistent work as a main focus. Well, next thing you know I closed 2 new clients in the afternoon, so I guess for all of us who have been in the funk for a bit, keep walking ahead and doing your best everyday ☺️

I brought up how long it was taking me to finish tracks with her because I had to prioritise full rate paying clients and mentioned that I could send her a proposal similar to what I was doing with another artist to see if it was something she'd be interested in and was within budget.       Aug '24 (edited)This was the framework I gave Joey if anyone else wants it...Upping rates with past client:- Get clear on the goals again- State the positives (what worked well)- State the negatives (what to improve)- Give a new approach / make sure they are bought in- Drop the new price- Handle objections

    First Momentum Model Client!

    I'm at the tail end of working on three songs with an artist and as we were talking about wrap up he brought up how he'd like to continue working together with more song ideas and if there was a way to continue our payment plan indefinetly so we can continue to work on new music. He's great to work with and I've had a blast working on his current songs and was very fortunate having him find me to begin with so I am so stoked that he wants to continue working together. Time to go find some more artists. :)

    Hey everyone, I just closed a new project (hiphop, ironically) with an artist out in Queens. What helped me close was that after I presented my full rate I then gave the artist different options on how to pay which are listed below: A.) 50% to to start. 50% once deliverables are done.
