Holy cow, my YouTube video just blew up! Posted it last Saturday and it's already hit almost 90k views - looking like it'll cross 100k within a day or two. Hit the monetization requirements and everything! My subscriber count shot up from 235 to over 3.2k, and I've got 4.5k watch hours from this one video alone. Still can't wrap my head around it... absolutely wild! https://youtu.be/_jPx1rZoCXw 7:54

Hey all, I just closed on a very unique project for me. I will be doing some drum programming for a touring Hiphop orchestra. The lead emcee actually had Apple do a documentary on him while as he was building this orchestra while working at Apple. Although this is not a heavy undertaking I’m looking forward to seeing a 17 piece orchestra perform a song I’ve worked on. Btw, this is my 2nd orchestral project that I’ve worked on this year. Not mad at it.
Nov '24@Destry Hergert Thanks man!
Nov '24That’s dope! Congrats, I can only imagine how satisfying that must be to see an orchestra perform music you’ve worked on.
Nov '24@Robbie Carvalho We shall see!
Nov '24Orchestral hip hop is sick!! I love combining cinematic and hiphop! Congrats on the win mg 👏👌
Nov '24@Michael Ellery thanks Michael!
Nov '24Amazing! Congrats @Hänz Nobe!! Super pumped to hear how this turns out!
Nov '24@Chris Jones Thank you

Nov '24That's super neat, congrats!
Just thought I’d share a small, but cool win! I got accepted as a creator on wavs.com and got my first pack featured on “Staff Picks”! Does anyone on here have experience with sample creation? Would love to learn more from people who do it/have done it. Thanks in advance!
Nov '24@Fred Rosa You or any of your buddies been involved with this site?
Nov '24I know I'm late to the comments section, but YO! Congrats @Max Harlor !! That's a big win!
Nov '24Congrats
Nov '24Congrats!
Nov '24Nice one Max!
Hey everyone, so my first mixing project with an artist has been confirmed today! (with first payment confirmed). This is my first paid project by doing outreach/DL method, and this client was the 65th person I messaged. After some instagram messaging with the artist, and finding out that she was looking for someone to mix her EP, we agreed to have a call to discuss her project. I decided that I could probably talk about pricing in the same call since it's just a mixing project. However, I got to... See more
Nov '24Congrats Ryan!!
Nov '24$2k of mixing work sounds great man, congrats!
Nov '24Awesome to hear @Ryan Foley-Tassicker …Glad that one went through and thanks for sharing! 🤘
Nov '24Congrats!
Nov '24Congrats Ryan! ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
Nov '24@Simon Auer you got it bro!
Nov '24Niiiiiiiiiiice bro! I’ve sent out my first 65ish DMs as well, so this was very reassuring! 🙌🏼
Nov '24Great job, Ryan! Congrats
Nov '24Congrats Ryan! 🤑🤑🤑
A little over two weeks ago, @Daniel Grimmett hit me up to ask how things were going. Within a couple of exchanges, we were on a Zoom call, figuring out the hole that I was in. In short, the success that I've been having on YouTube has been huge, but that brought with it the overwhelming sense of losing control... (the main problem that I'm trying to avoid for myself). Questions spin around my head; Where is my time best spent? What's my offer now? How do I qualify inbound leads? So what do I do? Rat... See more
Oct '24@Jack Holt I still think of this book that I read, The One Thing by Gary Keller and Jay Papasan. I paraphrase, but in essence , "what's the one thing, that if completed, would make everything else you do insignificant or completely irrelevant". I think of every week if not everyday.
Oct '24@Daniel Grimmett So true.
Oct '24@Joes Brands Cheers!
Oct '24Thanks for the reminder, and congrats on your YouTube success! I watched your latest video a couple of days ago, and really liked how practical and straight to the point it was!
Oct '24@Philip Davidson I've listened to a little of the audio book. It was good but definitely triggering since I like doing a lot of different things and I'm stubborn lol. But I totally agree, focusing all of your energy on your main priority or biggest lever in your business is necessary for progress. It takes phases of deep intense focus on a thing to make it happen. I feel like I'm on the right path and seeing people like you succeed in this group definitely helps.
Nov '24Keep it simple!!! Love it. Also that video would WRECK. So good!!!!
Oct '24Super encouraging and really helpful! Thank you @Philip Davidson for sharing a bit of your journey and lessons with us. Really appreciate it!
Oct '24@Chris Jones My pleasure mate!
Oct '24that's so awesome Phil, so glad to hear things are goin well for you
Oct '24@Kevin Shoemaker Thanks mate
Oct '24Dude, it was great to read this! I’m still in my first Dark Label weeks and even the idea of doing my first sales calls can seem daunting at times. This reminded me that those calls are really just a tiny stepping stone on a much bigger journey, nothing to be anxious about at all! Let’s gooooo 📈
Oct '24I can’t seem to find the video that matches the thumbnail in your post. What’s the name of your channel? 🤓
Oct '24Man your youtube is one of a kind, all the success well deserved! 37 calls sounds amazing and really scary too tbh.
Oct '24@Rob Woods Thanks man! I remember I did a similar thing month 3 with Dark Label, just organised as many calls as possible all with outreach, I think it was at that point that I started to understand what I was supposed to be doing on calls. They all started to sound the same, clients with the same problems, so now the youtube is just an extension of that, so happy it seems to be working!
Oct '24Great reminder thanks Phil!
Oct '24Nice. Thanks for sharing.
Oct '24Congrats on youtube!! You’re doing incredible! I currently refocusing my energy and cutting out distractions. Thanks for inspiration.
Oct '24@Sivert Vaagen Cheers man. Really appreciate the support. I think I may do some more like that for sure. The more I talk with people, the more ideas for client problem solving I get. The next video is literally of the back of 50% of last weeks call just being about fear holding people back.
Oct '24 (edited)@Simon Auer That was just a mock up not a real video. Phil was saying that Dark Label should make that video (about him) lol.
Oct '24Thanks for sharing Phil. Super important lesson for everyone here on scaling. It can solve old problems but almost always creates new ones too. And love the video idea, ha! Maybe we can workshop that together.
Hey everyone, I just closed on a project from a former client. Originally this was just mixing but then it became a full production project. Lesson learned: because she had a great experience with me before she was more than willing to jump on a call to get straight to talking about logistics on her next single. Also, every once in awhile it’s good to touch base with a client you worked with before as she had stated she was thinking about working with me again but didn’t think to reach out….. I wonder how many of our former clients are doing the same thing…
Oct '24Congrats!!
Oct '24Congrats man!
Oct '24@Chad Tabikh thanks
Oct '24Nice work man!
Oct '24@James Littier thanks
Oct '24Nice one Hanz!
Oct '24Congrats man!!! I did the same thing with a previous client! I knew she was thinking about doing some more music so i reached out to her to "prompt" her and we locked in 4 songs!Never underestimate the "follow-up"! And as they say, easier to keep a client then get a new one!
Oct '24@Sivert Vaagen thanks man
Oct '24Congrats @Hänz Nobe! That's so encouraging and really insightful!
Oct '24@Chris Jones thanks G.
Oct '24@Michael Ellery
edit: 2 artist reached out! I posted a reel at 5pm and an hour later an artist reached out to me to ask if was willing to produce his next single! Definitely a motivation to keep this going! 🤓 Hey Joes ! Alles oké ? Ik zag net je post op IG .. ;-) Heb jij zin om met mij een singletje uit te werken en op te nemen ? Hey Joes! Everything ok? Just saw your post in IG … ;-) Do you like to work on my single?

Oct '24thanks everybody!
Oct '24I saw that reel and thought: darn I wish I had a project that needs live drums so that I could hire you! Love the aesthetic in your content, the chill vibe. Great stuff!
yup i got her pregnant on the real: been married almost 3 years, and our first child (a son) is due December 16. planning to have the business scaled up enough that i can go part-time at my current job + spend more time at home with my son. i'm sure this will drastically change my schedule/operating procedures; completely worth it :) looking forward to joining the Dark Dads!

Oct '24Congrats man!
Oct '24Congrats Isaiah! I was hanging out with @Jesse Shirts last night and his is right around the corner too.
So awhile ago, i worked with a friend of mine to bring her song to life. She'd had an idea, i liked it and said i'd love to work on it with her. Together we created the track and that was done! It was all for splits, mostly cause i wasn't really confident in asking and i assumed she didn't have the budget, but i also liked the song, so wasn't as fussed. Fast forward to now, i reached out to her again cause i know she was wanting to get some more music going and had been working on some projects! ... See more
Oct '24The mix on this track is beautiful. Can't wait to hear what you guys make next!

hey y’all sooooo a couple weeks ago i had native instruments reach out about a reel i made on ig and they wanted to repost it. long story short they did, and it did pretty well and i got a good amount of traction from it. they recently pinned it and also followed me back on ig! pretty stocked they liked my content, and i also had a quick question. i would love to get some sort of work opportunity from it but i don’t have really any experience with company partnerships. could anyone with some more... Oct '24@Daniel Grimmett thank you dan!!
Oct '24Great stuff Rob! In most cases I've seen with fellow producers doing sponsored/partnership content the brand has reached out. I've had a couple of them reach out including Spitfire and recently Bandlab. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to DM NI since you have the interaction now and express interest in making more content with them!
Oct '24@Pete Covington hey pete, thanks for the response ! i did reach out yesterday, they replied asking for an email and said they would contact me with more opportunities :)
Oct '24@Robert Irvin amazing!! That’s great to hear
Oct '24@Tyler Newitt <
Oct '24This is awesome Rob - good stuff!
Oct '24@Christian Sancto got it, thankssss!!!
Oct '24@Luke Kondak
Oct '24Nice work! I just approached by a few brands for deals—they saw my content and reached out. Seems like brands are always on the lookout for small to medium accounts.I'd suggest making more reels featuring NI stuff if you want to pursue that relationship. Let them see you providing value to them without expectation, and they'll put 2 and 2 together.
Oct '24That’s awesome @Robert Irvin!
Hey y’all, just got my first sale using the dark label teachings. They’ll be traveling to Atlanta to track a whole record with me and we might be able to work at one of the bigger studios in Atlanta. Cool stuff is happening! Thanks for all the support and help along the way in the process.
Sep '24That’s exciting man congrats 🙏🏼
Sep '24Exciting Van! Did you end up working the traveling/hotel expenses into the project budget? Hype to hear what y'all make.

My biggest ever. Thank you Daniel for making me fall in love with sales. I quit client work for a couple months to focus on other aspects of my career and I had this artist reach out to me last week. I wanted to see if I still got it, and after a single sales call, she said she was down to do a whole project with me. It's been about a year since I joined this community and I wanted to share the most surprising insight I've learned throughout this whole client work process: The bar is so low. Every s... See more

Oct '24That’s incredible Fred. Congratulations!!!
Oct '24This is awesome. I just joined a week ago but am also starting to fall in love with the idea of sales. Because the Dark Label process is so pure and not pushy / salesy at all!
Oct '24That insane man big congrats!! 🏆
Oct ' dope Fred and congrats. i totally agree, it's shocking how many artists have horrific producer stories. do good work, be a good person, and you're already ahead of 80% of people doing this it seems
Oct '24Incredible bro congrats!!
Oct '24So awesome, Congratulations! Was this the fee for a single project or for multiple songs?
Oct '24That's huge! I hope there are plenty more to come 👊🏾
Oct '24Incredible!! Way to go Fred! 🎉 Super encouraged to hear this and pumped to hear how the rest of the project goes.
Oct '24Nice one @Fred Rosa - appreciate you sharing and keep it up! You’re correct… the bar is low. You’ll see how “not saturated” the GREAT producer market is the longer you do this.
I've been working away at trying to gather leads through a new youtube channel and it's starting to pay off (I've never really done much content before). The consistency and effort are seeming to be translating into views and subs which is awesome to see. It took 4 weeks for youtube to find the audience for one of my videos but check out the data in the last 48 hours, it's crazy!
Aug '24Hell yeah! YouTube is my absolute favorite. I have a coaching business that's unrelated to music, and YouTube is my #1 source of leads.
Aug '24Dude!!! That’s so exciting. Super inspiring for me starting my own channel soon too
Aug '24@Pete Covington yes! do it mate

Aug '24@Philip Davidson Amazing! Took me 1-2 years to get a video to pop like that! Love that you’re pushing them to a Skool community as a call to action. I would also give em an easy way to connect with you directly for work as well. ie “if you’re ready to work on something click here or just join my support community by clicking here”. There’s going to be a level of viewer that wants to go straight to a conversation with you. For example… we do “to work with me click here (dark label) or if you’re n... See more

Wow artist were really outside living their best lives this summer. My outreach got really stale for June and July. I could barely get a response from anyone. But the summer slump is over! Artist are finally responding to DMs, and I just landed two new clients this weekend from sales calls last week.
Sep '24Awesome dude! Congrats
Aug '24Nice one Melvin! Looks like the summer slump is coming to an end.

Hey y'all. First off, After watching @Pete Covington 's masterclass, I finally tried out talking into the camera as a piece of content... I never thought I would be this person, but I actually had a a ton of fun doing it. I initially wrote a script but ended up just improvising for 20 mins and chopped up the best parts. Then I posted it - and I've gotten more engagement from this post than anything I've ever posted before (excluding collab posts)... People even personally reached out to me outsi... See more

Aug '24 (edited)Amazing Chris, congratulations! Phenomenal results! And I actually saw that video on my insta, found it super funny in a good way! Also planning to get back to making content soon!A quick question regarding you new project, is it an in-person or remote project?
Aug '24 (edited)I love the self-deprecating humor, it's a breath of fresh air from all of the videos trying to teach in a serious but high-energy manner.I have the same issue. I worked in front of large-format consoles nearly everyday for 15 years. I moved states and no longer have access to those studios. I don't have a single picture of myself in front of all these Neves, API's, SSL's... lol. But I do have some instructional videos where I look Covid-rough 🤷
Aug '24Congrats
Aug '24Nice work man!!!! Way to get after it
Aug '24Right on Chris!
Summer been not so winning in terms of outreach and we’ve discussed it in the forum and in yesterdays outreach meeting. That was inspiring to discuss with @Joes Brands and @James Littier , who have been through many more slow summers than most of us, how to stay calm and keep the consistent work as a main focus. Well, next thing you know I closed 2 new clients in the afternoon, so I guess for all of us who have been in the funk for a bit, keep walking ahead and doing your best everyday ☺️
Aug '24Way to go man!!! That's the power of community imo. Even just talking about a funk can sometimes be enough to shift a mindset ever so slightly.
Aug '24Hey nice one Flo!
Aug '24Great job pushing through!!
Just barely have my Instagram going with <500 followers, feel like I entered a cheat code 😮💨 The song I produced/mixed/mastered he followed me for is "good day" by Mofe. Just posted this in my Introduction but I'll link it here one last time. Mix/master was rushed so a couple things bother me unfortunately, but hey it got the job done till the next one https://open.spotify.com/track/6TUd4T0131P2Gd0z9TmTX8?si=591009f6c6474bac Hope to hear y'alls wins soon too 🙌

I just had a really good proposal/sales call today with an artist I've been working with for a while but on my "old rate" $100 a song. I brought up how long it was taking me to finish tracks with her because I had to prioritise full rate paying clients and mentioned that I could send her a proposal similar to what I was doing with another artist to see if it was something she'd be interested in and was within budget. The call went so well. She had some questions about timelines, and payment option... See more
Aug '24 (edited)This was the framework I gave Joey if anyone else wants it...Upping rates with past client:- Get clear on the goals again- State the positives (what worked well)- State the negatives (what to improve)- Give a new approach / make sure they are bought in- Drop the new price- Handle objections
Aug '24@Daniel Grimmett that's great to have thanks Dan.
Aug '24Right on Will! Thanks for sharing. Funny enough, @Joey Colvin just had a similar experience upgrading a client from his old rate to new.
Hi everyone, this is exciting for me as it’s a big career milestone. My first official gig as a composer was just released here in Canada on TVOkids and in the US it’s being broadcast on WNET/PBS. It’s been an amazing to be apart of and has really helped me expand my skills and palette as both a writer and producer of music.
